Rosacea is a chronic inflammation of the skin that causes dilated blood vessels, redness, blisters, and pustules on the face (most commonly on the forehead, cheeks and nose), which can become scared (a condition known as rhinophyma). Rosacea is generally made worse by any factors that increase blood circulation, such as heat/cold exposure, excessive excitement, stress, spicy foods and drinks, alcohol, tea, coffee, excessive exposure to UV light. Treatments include an oil-free, made-for-the-face sunscreen that is 30 SPF or higher, wide brim hats, avoidance of triggers, laser and topical prescription creams or antibiotics.
